Life's Lesson: When You Feel like You Want To Quit Doing Right, Don't Despair.

Updated: Dec 8, 2022

When you feel like you want to quit doing the right thing, don't give up. We all feel that way from time to time. Your payoff is coming. Doing the right thing can be challenging when surrounded by those who are doing the opposite of right. I have noticed something about systems in life. They are only as good as the people who are in them. If people with no integrity occupy the systems, the system will have no integrity. However, when world systems are filled with people of integrity, the systems are one of righteousness and goodness, and there is peace in the land. The Book of Proverbs 29:2 says, "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."

What is good? Luke 10:38 says doing good is the act of kindness, mercy, giving, loving, caring, and upholding the standards of God. Let's face it; there are times when we all take our eyes off what matters in life as a disciple of Christ. Now is not the time to forsake all that we know and tear down the foundation of righteousness. The Word of God ( Psalms 11:3) says that if the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? What will be accomplished if God's righteous ways and Word are forsaken by His people?

Please remember, we are in this world but not of this world. The words of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, give us peace of mind in our troubled world of darkness. He is the light of the world. If we'd remember that He is God and that God is Sovereign over all the affairs of mankind, we will keep our confidence and trust in Him and not give up. Be mindful that just as events happened, the rise and fall of many great nations and cultures in the Old and New Testament, when they departed from God's righteousness, it passed. God's will and purpose were accomplished and continue today.

This, too, will pass in its time as well, be the standard-bearer of truth and righteousness. Let the world know that our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' Blood and His righteousness. We are not without hope, as some are. The light shines its brightest in darkness. Be the light, and let your light so shine. Continue in the faith, truth, and righteousness; for things shall get better. Be of good courage. You are not alone. We are many, and you are in Christ Jesus. God's peace and strength be unto you. Amen.
